One Moment at a Time

About me

MA. Audrey Rodríguez

Humanist Psychologist with a specialty in trauma.

Based on Carl Rogers' Person-Centered Experiential approach, I work alongside my clients in the pursuit of their integral well-being.

I studied Psychology at the University of Victoria, Canada, where I experienced the social convergence of different cultures. There I acquired a special interest in Sign Language and the different obstacles that certain communities experience while attempting  to access health services.

After that, I did a master's degree in Psychotherapy with a Person Centered Approach, at the University of Nottingham, England. While further expanding my international outlook on human relationships, I also gained an insight into the multi-sensory experience of therapy.

Recently, I completed a diploma in Psychotraumatology with Newman Institute, Mexico, where I explored the physical dimension of mental health, being specially mindful that the body keeps track of our experiences.

In therapy, I seek to create a relationship of trust and respect, providing support from an empathic, non-directive, judgment-free stance so that people can develop their authentic and congruent selves.

Why go to therapy?

By going to therapy, you give yourself an hour of personal introspection. It may be to learn more about yourself, develop your strengths, or strengthen your areas of opportunity.

Regardless of the reason, therapy provides you with a unique space where the focus is you, without interruptions and free from judgement.

Therapy can become the healing space that was not available in the past.

What is Person-Centered Experiential therapy?

The Person-Centered Experiential approach is characterized by facilitating the empowerment of the person while being non-directive at the same time. It is based on the premise that the person is an expert in itself; therefore, the therapist shares its skills to navigate and understand their experience, thus achieving their personal growth.

It belongs to the Humanistic approach and it is an evidence-based therapy.

What happens in therapy?

In therapy we explore together your topics of interest, based on what you decide on the day; you set the rhythm of the session.

Usually we will talk about a topic that you have in mind (either your main interest or a recent event), while being mindful of the experiential component in the present moment.

Sometimes, we will also include introspection and movement exercises the can complement your personal journey.

What can I discuss in therapy?

We can explore any range of topics, such as:

- Personal development

- Self-esteem

- Effective communication

- Relationships

- Depression

- Anxiety

- Post-Traumatic Stress

- Addictions

- Adverse Childhood Experiences
